Keith Dameron, manager of Iberia Bank, Marco Island, spoke on scams and fraud at the Rotary Club of Marco Island on July 25 at the Marco Island Yacht Club.
Dameron said that the most vulnerable on an average are people 55 years of age and older who have lost 40 percent of their net worth. The Internet has been a gold mine to scammers around the world.
Dameron also shared with the members that the scam artists work out of Nigeria where there is so much corruption. He said that “if a deal looks too good to be true, most likely it is.”
